The woman, who has not been recognized by police, was amongst employees cleansing and performing upkeep work within the huge cats' enclosure at a safari park within the metropolis of Rancagua, 90 kilometers (60 miles) south of the capital Santiago.
Visitors drive via the safari characteristic, the place animals can transfer freely. When employees are working within the space, animals are confined in enclosures.
The woman who died suffered neck wounds within the tiger assault, authorities mentioned.
Williams Espinoza of the Rancagua police mentioned the woman's ordeal was temporary. "She did not realize that the door of the animal's cage was open and was immediately attacked by this tiger, causing her death on the spot," he mentioned.
The safari park was closed whereas police investigated. Jorge Mena, from the regional public prosecutor's workplace, mentioned they might be investigating potential third-party culpability for what occurred.
The Rancagua Safari Park didn't reply to a request for remark. The situation of the tiger was not identified.
