Ajmer witnessed another spell of unsettled weather on Saturday as rain continued across the city. The rainfall brought some relief from the heat, but it also led to an early-morning accident on Plaza Cinema Road.
At around 6 am, a wall belonging to Arya Putri Balika School suddenly collapsed. Five cars parked beside the wall were damaged in the incident. The vehicles belonged to tourists visiting Rajasthan.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
School Wall Collapses After Overnight Rain
Rain had been falling intermittently across Ajmer during the night. By early Saturday morning, the wet conditions had weakened the school wall on Plaza Cinema Road.
The wall suddenly gave way at around 6 am, falling onto five cars parked alongside the school.
Reports also suggested that an electrical current from a nearby pole might have contributed to cracks developing in the wall before it collapsed. The exact cause would need confirmation from the concerned authorities.
The tourists who owned the vehicles were staying at a hotel located opposite the school.

Tourists Had Parked Cars Along the School Wall
The affected vehicles had Maharashtra and Gujarat registration numbers, indicating that the tourists had travelled to Ajmer from outside Rajasthan.
The hotel where they were staying reportedly didn't have its own parking facility. So, the vehicles had been parked along the school boundary.
The incident shows the risk of leaving vehicles close to old or damaged structures during periods of heavy rain, particularly when the weather remains unsettled through the night.
Driver Was Sleeping Inside One of the Cars
One of the vehicles had a driver sleeping inside when the wall collapsed.
The sudden noise woke him up. He managed to get out of the vehicle through the door and escaped without injuries.
The outcome could have been far more serious if the wall had collapsed directly onto an occupied section of the vehicle.

Ajmer Temperature Drops After Rain
The rainfall also brought a noticeable drop in temperature across Ajmer.
The minimum temperature recorded on Saturday morning was 20.8 degrees Celsius. Was 3.5 degrees Celsius lower than the previous 24-hour period.
Ajmer recorded around 24 mm of rainfall during the same period.
The district's normal seasonal rainfall at this stage is around 390 mm. This season, Ajmer had already got about 443 mm, roughly 53 mm above the normal figure.
Even so, the seasonal rainfall total was still below the amount recorded during the same period last year.
More Rain Expected in Ajmer
According to the weekly forecast from the Meteorological Department, Ajmer could continue to experience rainfall in the days ahead.
Light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms, was expected in parts of the district through 7 September. Temperatures were also expected to change with the weather conditions.

Rainfall activity was forecast to reduce between 8 and 14 September.
For tourists travelling through Ajmer and nearby destinations during this period, checking the weather forecast before starting a journey would be sensible. Heavy rain can affect road conditions, parking areas, and older structures across the city.
What Tourists Should Keep in Mind During Rain
Visitors staying in Ajmer or travelling toward destinations such as Khatu Shyam Ji should take a few basic precautions during periods of heavy rain.
Check whether your hotel has secure parking before leaving your vehicle overnight. Avoid parking directly beside old walls, large trees, temporary structures, or visibly damaged buildings.
If thunderstorms are forecast, keep an eye on local weather updates before heading out.
The Ajmer incident ended without injuries. The damage to five tourist vehicles reminds us that heavy rain can create unexpected problems even when conditions appear manageable.
