Prithvi Shaw is counted among the talented young players of India and this young batsman was advised by two of the world’s greatest batsmen – Sunil Gavaskar and Allan Border, that he should focus on his shot selection. Former captains of India and Australia feel that Shaw needs to be a little more cautious on Australian pitches.

Border, while speaking to the media via video conference, said, “I know that you guys consider Shaw a very good batsman, but I think he plays the ball in a hurry. This is fine with the new ball on the flat pitch, but in Australia you have to be very cautious about your shot selection. I think he is a bit weak outside the off stump. “

Gavaskar completely agree with the border. He also said that Shaw needs to work on his defense.

Gavaskar said, “I agree with the border. I think they should take time to review their game because as an opener you have to give yourself time, what the pitch is doing, what the bowlers are doing. He will not be able to run continuously from the way he is batting at the moment. He will take occasional runs but needs to strengthen his defense. I agree with Border that he has been playing too many shots since the beginning of the innings. ”

Shaw made his debut against the West Indies and had already scored a century in the match. He was ruled out due to injury on the previous Australian tour. This time in two practice matches, Shaw has not impressed. In the second practice match, Shaw played innings of 40 and 3 runs. In the first practice match, he played innings of 0 and 19 runs.
