We’ve caught a glimpse of spare parts for the Steam Deck happening sale, but it surely seems that iFixit jumped the gun in sending these retail listings stay, and they’ve been yanked down – although presumably it gained’t be lengthy earlier than the related bits of equipment shall be out there once more.
You might recall that iFixit cooked up a cope with Valve to be the official provider of replacement parts for the Steam Deck, and as the corporate tweeted to make clear, it mistakenly revealed these product pages, full with pricing.
Earlier at the moment we revealed some pages associated to our upcoming parts launch with Valve. These went stay sooner than we deliberate, so we ended up taking them down. If you probably did get a parts order in, we'll honor it. ???? Stay tuned for the actual launch quickly!May 21, 2023

Assuming that these are the right prices, and not placeholders – on what had been apparently ‘test’ pages, in line with an iFixit rep on Reddit – the worth tags for varied parts had been revealed as Gaming On Linux spotted, and many are pleasingly cheap.
A replacement display screen runs to $100 or £90 for the highest-finish anti-glare show (and $65 or £60 for the essential display screen), with a new fan costing $25 or £20.
Most of the prices appear properly pitched on the reasonably priced aspect, however in order for you a new motherboard, you’re taking a look at a substantial $350 or £290 outlay. That’s not far off the price of a new Steam Deck, in fact, which runs to $399 or £349 for the entry-degree model.
Do notice that iFixit made it clear that some orders had been positioned earlier than the listings had been eliminated, and anyone who received an order in can have it honored.

As you may think, there have been a quantity of people that purchased replacement followers – there have been complaints about some overly noisy fashions blighted by a excessive-pitched whine – and actually the followers bought out earlier than the listings had been truly taken down, going by reviews online. (Valve is addressing this explicit gremlin within the works, or is making an attempt to, with beta software program updates, thoughts you.)
Some other people are trying on the array of parts which had been out there and speculating about having the ability to purchase all of the elements wanted to make their very own Steam Deck – however probably that’s going to work out costly, even when theoretically potential (which we don’t know but).
More realistically, there could also be Deck homeowners on the market who are trying not simply to carry out primary repairs on a wonky thumbstick, or possibly a problematic fan, however maybe improve a lesser model Steam Deck to the higher display screen on the highest-finish model. And seeing the worth of the replacement show will doubtless be heartening to anybody with sufficient techie chops to have the ability to open up their system and swap out the display screen.
