The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has acknowledged that Goods and Services Tax (GST) will not be levied on companies like supplying meals to Anganwadis and faculties underneath the ambit of Mid-day Meal scheme.

It has additional clarified that charges paid by college students to take a seat in any examination performed by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or state boards, will even not appeal to any GST levy. 

Even charges paid by college students for sitting in any entrance examination can also be exempted from GST levy, the board has clarified.

CBIC lately had clarified these factors by way of its Twitter deal with, which had emerged from the GST Council assembly.

The board mentioned that it had obtained a number of representations from instructional establishments, in search of to know whether or not supplying meals in faculties underneath authorities schemes could be exempted from GST, whether it is funded by authorities or supported by donations from non-public our bodies.

The CBIC mentioned that as Anganwadis impart pre-school and non-formal training, they fall underneath the definition of an academic establishment.
