The outlet shared that when Charles steps into the position of monarch, the title of “prince” and “princess” will be given to Archie and Lilibet because the children of a son of the king.

A decree issued by King George V in 1917 limits the titles of prince and princess to the children of the monarch, children of the monarch’s sons and “the eldest living son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales” — that’s William’s son George, 7.

“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family,” Harry and Meghan, also referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, wrote in a press release that accompanied the start announcement Sunday.

The child is “more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe,” they continued.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson stated the queen, Charles, William and different family members had been knowledgeable and are “delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
