After launching again in 2008, Chrome will attain model 100 early subsequent yr but sadly this milestone will trigger some web sites to now not work in Google's browser.Although there aren't any main modifications or revolutionary new options deliberate for Chrome 100, the search large has been conscious for a while that this main launch will doubtless result in issues for older web sites. While Chrome 100 will launch in March of subsequent yr, Google already started warning customers and web site house owners about potential points in a weblog put up revealed in November, saying:
“In the first half of 2023, Chrome will reach a three-digit major version number: 100! When browsers first reached version 10 many eons ago, lots of issues were discovered with User-Agent parsing libraries as the major version number went from one digit to two. Now that we are approaching version 100 in both Chrome and Firefox, with Edge not far behind, we want to detect possible issues related to three-digit version number early, so we are ready when it becomes a reality.”When Chrome's main model quantity goes from two digits to 3, web sites developed with the net design package Duda will now not show appropriately. Thankfully although, Google has a plan to keep away from disrupting the net and the corporate has already begun contacting particular person builders to warn them in regards to the upcoming change.
User Agent string
In order for a website to know what browser and what model of it you are at present utilizing, the location will examine the User Agent string which is basically a line of textual content that your browser attaches to each web connection it makes. Here is an instance of a User Agent string: “Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/96.0.4664.110 Safari/537.36”. At the top, you'll be able to see “Chrome/96.0.4664.110” which suggests we're operating Chrome model 96. The downside with Duda resides in the truth that its builders selected to solely learn the primary two digits so “Chrome/96” can be 96 whereas “Chrome/100” can be seen as 10 or model 10 to be more exact. To make issues worse, Duda mechanically blocks any model of Chrome beneath model 40. For this cause, Chrome 100 will seen as Chrome 10 and might be mechanically blocked by the net design package, rendering web sites constructed utilizing it unreadable. While Google has thought of forcing the most important model quantity to the minor model place and staying at 99 so “Chrome/100” would as an alternative be “Chrome/99.100”, this is solely a backup plan. Instead, the search large has begun contacting particular person builders to allow them to learn about this subject earlier than Chrome 100 is launched. Google has additionally added a brand new flag to Chrome (#pressure-main-model-to-100) which builders can use to see whether or not or not their websites might be affected.Although shifting to model 100 has the potential to disrupt lots of older websites, Google and Mozilla are working laborious to deal with the problem earlier than the rollouts of model 100 of each Chrome and Firefox subsequent yr .
