6 people warned over protest outside MOE building: Police


SINGAPORE: Police have issued warnings to 6 people for his or her involvement in a public meeting with no allow outside the Ministry of Education (MOE) headquarters earlier this 12 months.

In the media launch on Tuesday (Nov 30), police stated they’ve accomplished investigations in opposition to 9 people, aged between 19 and 41, over the incident. 

“No further action will be taken against the remaining three individuals who were investigated,” stated police.

On Jan 26 at about 5pm, a gaggle of 5 people had staged a protest by holding placards outside the MOE constructing alongside Buona Vista Drive. The group didn’t have a police allow to hold out the general public meeting. 

When police arrived, solely three people remained, together with the 33-year-old organiser of the general public meeting.

“The police warned them to cease their activities as they were liable for an offence under the Public Order Act. However, they ignored the police’s warning and continued with their activities,” stated police within the launch.

The group was then issued with a “Move-on” course beneath Section 36 of the Public Order Act and had been advised that they might be arrested in the event that they failed to stick to the course.

“They refused to comply despite the police’s repeated warnings, and were arrested under the Public Order Act at around 5.35pm.”

Apart from the 5 people, 4 others, aged between 23 and 41, who weren’t a part of the general public meeting, had been additionally investigated for his or her suspected involvement within the incident.
