Army of the Dead director Zack Snyder weighed in on the movie’s time loop principle and whether or not there’s precise proof for the concept.
The time loop principle relies on a scene that takes place about midway via Snyder’s zombie film. Upon reaching the vault inside Bly Tanaka’s deserted Vegas on line casino, the safecracker Dieter and zombie conflict veteran Vanderohe uncover a gaggle of lifeless people which are dressed a complete lot like the members of their group. Vanderohe speculates these are them from one other timeline and so they’re caught in an infinite time loop of preventing and dying, again and again.
Discussing Army of the Dead for Netflix‘s Geeked Week, Snyder refused to rule out the time loop principle, stating “It might be true. Who knows?”

“There’s a lot of clues in [Army of the Dead] that would support that theory,” Snyder added. “For instance, you see in that sequence, you see that there’s some skeletons in the vault there’s like a shot of each of them, and you see a shot of one of our characters, and they happen to be wearing the same necklace or the same — it’s them.”
He went on to level out this isn’t the solely scene in Army of the Dead that helps this studying, noting “When they actually get in the casino there’s a set of plans, and Scott says Tanaka had other teams in here before us. If you notice, the dead guys around that table are them again. So if you wanna play that game, it’s there to play.”
It’s unclear if Snyder intends to discover the time loop principle in an Army of the Dead sequel, ought to it come to move. The first film is projected to turn out to be one of Netflix’s high ten all-time most-watched Original movies and already has a prequel film and anime sequence in the works. However, a direct followup has but to be introduced.
Directed and co-written by Zack Snyder, Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Garret Dillahunt, Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Raul Castillo, Tig Notaro, Theo Rossi, Matthias Schweighöfer and Ana de la Reguera. The movie is now streaming on Netflix.
