Grappler Baki, also known as Baki the Grappler in North America, is a manga written and illustrated by Keisuke Itagaki. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion from 1991 to 1999. It was collected in 42 tankōbon volumes by Akita Shoten. The manga was followed by three sequels in the same magazine; Baki also known as a new grappler Baki: In Search of Our Strongest Hero, Baki Hanma, aka Baki: Son of Ogre, and finally Baki-Dou, which was serialized from 2014 to 2018 and collected in 22 volumes. A fifth series, also called Baki-Dou, but with Baki’s name written in katakana instead of kanji. Media Do International began digitally releasing the second manga in August 2018. As of 2021, the first four Baki series had more than 85 million copies in circulation. Yujiro Hanma appears in all Baki franchises as the antagonist of the series. In Baki, 2018 TV show, the character Yujiro Hanma was voiced by Kirk Thornton in the English version. And for the Japanese version, Akio Ōtsuka provided voice for the character Yujiro. In Baki The Grappler 2005 TV show, the Yujiro Hanma character was voiced by the voice actor Matthew Tomkins for the English version and as for the Japanese version, it was given by Kenji Nomura.
