Vismaya V Nair is a medical student from Kolam. She was married to Motor vehicle inspector Kiran Kumar in May 2020. Vismaya was found dead in the early morning at Kiran’s house by leaving a suicidal note. She was tortured for the dowry and harassed to death. Though Vismaya’s father Thrivikraman Nair was given 1.25 acre of land and 100 sovereigns of gold to Kiran as dowry at the marriage. Kiran allegedly harassed his wife for better dowry. Vismaya’s Husband Kiran taken to judicial custody and charged under IPC section 304 (B), which pertains to dowry death. Meanwhile, former health minister KK Shailaja visited Vismaya’s family and assured them of all support from the government.
