Gaming has never been as immersive as it has ever since the advent of Virtual Reality (or VR for short) in the gaming industry. All you have to do is put on a headset and you can see everything as if you are the main character in the game. For instance, there was a VR version of Batman called Batman Arkham VR which was created by Rocksteady Studios, the mastermind behind the Arkham series including Batman Arkham Knight

The VR element allows you to actually become Batman as you traverse through the map and take out all the goons. Every person who has grown up being a Batman fan had the time of their lives as soon as Batman Arkham VR came out since it gave them the chance to come close to becoming Batman themselves!

You may even play Batman Arkham VR today, but you need to download the game onto your console. So it's better to look into the Xfinity Internet Cost so that you can get your internet connection right now at a super-affordable cost and start traversing through Gotham City as Batman!

Today, we will be talking about how Virtual Reality has changed the gaming industry and what role it will continue to play in the future as well. So if you are an avid gamer, this article is something that you should definitely read so make sure that you read all the way to the end for more insight into Virtual Reality and the gaming industry.

  1. The History of Virtual Reality in the Gaming Industry

There is no doubt that Virtual Reality has seen a lot of development over the years ever since it first came out. You would be shocked to know that Virtual Reality actually started back in the 1960s when prototypes were created. Later, in the early 1990s Sega came out with the Sega VR and the Virtual Boy, which shows how Sega has always been ahead of its game.

The real game changer came in the late 2010s in terms of VR gaming with the release of the Oculus Rift which was compatible with most Android phones such as Samsung, HTC, Sony, and a lot more. Not only that, but even HTC came out with the HTC Vive, and by now Sony had also released the PlayStation VR for the PlayStation 4 which had made things a lot more interesting.

  1. An Overview of the Virtual Reality Experience

If we had to describe the whole Virtual Reality experience in one word, we would say that it is very “immersive”. Once you put the headset on, you block out everything that you can see in the real world and only see what you see inside the headset.

Some headsets even allow you to block out audio from the outside world so that you can delve deeper into the virtual world of VR. You can explore the world in whatever way you want, you can touch and interact with objects.

Another thing that makes Virtual Reality interesting is how it has been incorporated into racing games such as Assetto Corsa. Once you pair up the helmet with a steering wheel, it actually feels like you are driving a car. It mimics your head motion and allows you to drive at high speeds to make you feel like you are driving yourself.

  1. What Could the Future of Virtual Reality Gaming Look Like?

If we recall, all the initial VR games used to look really unappealing. Honestly, if those games were continued, no one would really want to play any VR games at all. Things took a drastic turn as soon as a popular game company called Valve released a new Half-Life game that was for Virtual Reality.

The game was definitely an exhilarating experience as it would put you through a life-or-death situation and you would have to think fast so that you could change your circumstances. Even years after the release, people still praise the game!

The same goes for Batman Arkham VR too, just like that there was an Iron Man VR game that allowed you to fly around like Iron Man as you would fight crime. Similarly, there have also been VR games dedicated to superheroes like Spider-Man! So if you really wish to immerse yourself in the superhero experience, then Virtual Reality is the way to go.

Ending Note

There is no doubt that the future of gaming will have a lot of Virtual Reality as well. Not only VR but we may even see a lot of Augmented Reality (or AR for short) as well. For instance, games like Pokemon GO have already started making use of AR which basically makes you feel as if all the Pokemon have escaped into real life! We would love to see bigger implementations of VR and AR soon!
