Some Steam Deck house owners not too long ago began to fret that it may be doable for builders to dam their video games from being performed on the hand held gaming PC, however Valve swiftly confirmed this isn’t the case, and the confusion has arisen over what’s really a ‘technical issue’ and a mistake – which has now been mounted.
This began on Twitter the place it was noticed that Demon Gaze Extra, a JRPG, appeared to be configured in order that it couldn’t be put in on Steam Deck (however in the event you downloaded on the desktop and transferred the game information throughout, it did work).
This raised the chance that some game builders had been deliberately flagging their titles and blocking them from being put in on Valve’s system, however the Steam Deck maker quickly made it clear that this wasn’t the case.

In an e mail to PC Gamer, Valve defined that: “Before the Deck launch, we added a feature to allow developers to tag certain content/depots as being relevant only for Deck customers.
“This would allow developers to automatically deliver a different default graphics config on Deck, for example. There was a technical issue with the way this feature was shipped, and so unfortunately some content was incorrectly tagged as the reverse (“deliver these depots to every customer *not* on a Deck”).”
Valve additional famous that the related characteristic has been up to date so it’s not doable for builders to by accident flag their video games as blocked anymore, and for any video games that are already within the quandary the place they'll’t be put in attributable to this glitch, Valve says it’s “working with partners to fix the issue”.

Analysis: A little bit of ado about nothing
This turned out to be a little bit of fuss about nothing a lot, then, fortunately; and hopefully any affected video games shall be sorted out by Valve and the respective game devs earlier than lengthy.
Valve actually appears severe about making fast progress with the Steam Deck when it comes to responding to points that pop up, as we’ve seen with the latest beta launch that appears to sort out the fan whine issues that some house owners have complained about.
Admittedly, the lessened noise does include a rise in inner temperatures with the system, however keep in mind that the fan repair is nonetheless in beta, and hopefully with more testing, any undesirable facet-results must be ironed out. (Note that temps don’t get problematically excessive, both – PC Gamer itself has achieved some testing and that’s reportedly the case even with more demanding titles like Elden Ring).
