Periyasamy is a sub-inspector from the Salem district. He was arrested for indiscriminately beaten the 47-year-old farmer A. Murugesan, of Edayappatti, who died on 23 June. According to the information the police at the Pappanaickenpatti check post made an argument with Murugesan and they have beaten up. The man who fainted got admitted to the hospital where he succumbed to death. Salem police have registered the case against a special sub-inspector of police Periyasamy and placed him under suspension. Periyasamy was condemned by Opposition parties, human rights and told the government to take necessary actions and provide compensation to the Murugesan Family. It is the next incident after Sattankulam, trader Jayaraj’s case last year (2020).
