INDIANAPOLIS — Fire crews battled a big fire at Hanna Auto Salvage on the southwest aspect for greater than 24 hours.
The fire began round 6:30 Saturday morning within the salvage yard and was already “very large” when crews arrived, based on Wayne Township Fire Division Chief Courtney Rice. About half of a 40x40x30 pile of vehicles and scrap was on fire.
The final three items of firefighting gear left the scene round 11 a.m. Sunday.
Firefighters say no workers have been working on the time of the fire.
The Wayne Township Fire Department stated lengthy distances to get to water provides and the fire itself slowed the preliminary firefight.
In addition to knocking out the fire, firefighters say the entire materials must be moved so it may be absolutely extinguished.
“It’s not a simple fire at all,” Rice stated. “We have almost 2.5 miles of hose on the ground to try to get water from the water sources to where we need it on the property.”
Rice stated the vehicles have been burning at 1,200 levels and there’s no phrase but on the reason for the fire.
