Guneet Monga Receives Second Highest Civilian French Honour

Oscar-winning producer Gunit Monga, greatest recognized for backing movies akin to “The Lunchbox” and “Massan”, was awarded the second highest civilian French honor by France’s Overseas Minister Jean-Yves Le Dria on Tuesday. Both India and France share an equal passion for cinema,” Minister Lee Drian stated.

He stated, ‘I was proud to congratulate Indian and French women producers for their Indo-French collaboration and for their work for gender equality in the region. The French Embassy in India will also play its part, with the agreement through Collectif 50/50. Gender equality is the foremost priority of France’s international coverage, ”he stated. Monga-backed “The Lunchbox” received the Critics Week Viewers’ Selection Award on the 66th Cannes Movie Pageant. His different movie productions together with Vasan Bala’s “Peddlers”, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s “Gangs of Wasseypur”, “Monsoon Shootout” and “Masaan” have been screened and honored on the prestigious ceremony. The Ordre de Arts et des Lettres of France awards contributors worldwide underneath three classes — the Commanderier, the Officer and the Chevalier. Earlier, outstanding names like Hollywood star Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis have been conferred with the title of Commander, whereas superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have received the title of Officer. Pop star Shakira, South star Kamal Haasan and actor-filmmaker Nandita Das are earlier award winners of the title Chevalier.
