Group offers October tours of historic Detroit cemeteries

DETROIT – Just in time for the haunting month: Detroit cemetery tours.

After a 12 months off as a result of of COVID-19, Preservation Detroit is providing afternoon strolling tours of the artwork and structure discovered within the metropolis’s remaining resting locations.

The cemeteries are the final stops for a lot of historic figures and celebrities, comparable to Rosa Parks, Aretha Franklin, and Bernhard Stroh. Elmwood Cemetery has veterans of each struggle for the reason that Revolutionary War.

The tours began Saturday with Mt. Elliott Cemetery. On the following 4 Saturdays, tours shall be carried out at Elmwood, Mt. Elliott once more, Mt. Olivet and Woodlawn.

The price is $20 for Preservation Detroit members and $25 for others. Money raised from the tours goes to Preservation Detroit’s efforts to protect the town’s historical past.
