Former LTA officer charged under Official Secrets Act with retaining documents after leaving job

SINGAPORE: A former Land Transport Authority (LTA) officer was charged on Tuesday (Dec 7) with retaining documents he had entry to in his work capability even after he had left the job.Benny Tan Yong Liang, 34, was given one cost under the Official Secrets Act of getting in his possession documents he had obtained resulting from his place as an LTA assistant environmental supervisor.He allegedly had these documents between Nov 20, 2020 and Mar 8, 2021 in his private laptop computer. It was not disclosed in court docket what these documents are.The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau stated in an earlier assertion that Singapore takes a strict zero-tolerance strategy in direction of corruption and different legal actions.If convicted, Tan could be fined as much as S$2,000 and jailed as much as two years.He will return to court docket subsequent month.
