National Fire Prevention Day

National Fire Prevention Day is observed in the United States, Canada, and some other countries in any day from October 4 to October 10 every year.  This important day exists with a view to raising awareness of activities and practices that can help prevent fire related issues and disasters, and recognizing the work of the fire-fighters who play a vital role to solve all these problems. Awareness is very much important in fire safety as most of the fire accidents can be avoided if everyone is aware of the matter.

Fire Safety Day starts its functionalities with slogans such as ‘Fire Feeds on Careless Deeds’ and ‘Don’t Give Fire a Place to Start.’ On the occasion of this celebration, people take pride in thanking all the firefighters and introduce and promote various fire-prevention and fire-safety material.

National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced the Fire Prevention Week 2020 theme as “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. The objective of setting the theme like this is to highlight the facts of fire incidents in the residential area as home fires now burn faster than ever.  Some recent studies show that people had approximately 17 minutes in the past to escape a usual home fire from the time the smoke alarm sounds. But the time has now lowered down to two minutes to get out safely.
