Davenport man sentenced to 50 years in prison, with no parole until 35 years, for murder of mother | Local Crime & Courts


A Davenport man was sentenced to 50 years in jail on a second-degree murder cost in connection with his mother’s demise.

McKinsley Steven Watson, 38, was initially charged with first-degree murder in connection with the demise of his mother, Victoria Watson, 59, on May 21, 2020. Watson accepted a plea settlement in October and pleaded responsible to second-degree murder.

Under Iowa regulation, second-degree murder is a Class B felony that carries a compulsory sentence of 50 years in jail, 70% of which, or 35 years, should be served earlier than parole will be granted. McKinsley Watson may even be required to pay $150,000 in sufferer restitution.

Davenport police have been despatched the 600 block of 63rd Street at 4:46 a.m. to examine a name about an unresponsive feminine. Paramedics with the Davenport Fire Department additionally responded to the scene and pronounced the girl lifeless.

According to the affidavit filed by Davenport Police Cpl. Greg Lalla, McKinsley Watson assaulted his mother, Victoria Watson, inflicting her demise.
