Breakdance joins Paris Olympics 2024, IOC take this decision to attract the young audience

New Delhi: Breakdance is now officially an Olympic sport. The International Olympic Committee has included it in the 2024 Games in Paris. The IOC has taken this decision to woo younger viewers. Apart from this, skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing have also been included in these sports. These three games were to be included in the Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed for a year due to the corona virus pandemic.

Boxing and weightlifting have suffered the most from administrative irregularities. The Paris Games will have 120 players in the league, which is less than half of Rio de Janeiro. Due to the history of doping and the slow pace of implementation of the reforms, it could also be removed completely.

The IOC also said that its long-term goal in the Olympics is equal participation of male and female players. Breaking in the Olympics will be known as Breaking, as it was called in America in the seventies. Paris organizers proposed to include it two years ago after a successful trial in youth sports in Buenos Aires. The IOC board later approved it. Surfing will take place on the shores of Tahiti in the Pacific Ocean 15,000 km away.

What is breakdance?
Breakdancing or breaking began in the US in the 1970s. It is part of the hip hope culture. Over time, break dancing reached beyond America. More than 1 million people see it as a game. The 2019 Red Bull BC One World Finals, Mumbai was watched by over 10 lakh people. It was also shown on Facebook and YouTube.
