Amla Navami is celebrated among devotees across India every year. The day is celebrated on the Navami of Kartik Shukla paksha as well as it is also known as Akshaya Navami. On this day devotees perform several religious ceremonies such as holy bath, puja and charity in order to get rid of their sins as well as to fulfil their wishes. It is also believed that Satyuga was started on this day.
2020 Amla Navami Significance
As per to the ancient scriptures, Amla is a favourite fruit of Lord Vishnu therefore on this day there is a tradition of worshipping the Amla tree on Kartik navami. It is believed that all the gods and goddesses reside in the Amla tree.

This year in 2020, Amla Navami is going to be celebrated or observed on 23rd November 2020, Tuesday. Throughout Amla Navami festival, devotees offer Abhishek to Lord Vishnu with His favourite fruit ‘amla’ and they also cook food under an amla tree and then offer naivedya to the Lord.
Amla Navami Puja Vidhi
On Amla Navami, the devotees take bath early in the morning and worship the Amla tree while facing towards the east. The observer then starts their fast by taking water, rice, flowers etc in their right hand. After that light an incense and lamp at the foot of the tree as well as they take 7 rounds of the tree at the same time performing the aarti.
After performing the aarti, they feed the priests under the tree along with that they also donate them as per devotee’s potency followed by reciting the katha. If in any case you do not have or didn’t find any Amla tree in your or near garden, then you can plant a small Amla plant in a pot and can then start your prayer.
Akshaya Navami Vrat Katha
This day has a significant place especially in Hindu culture and is also considered to be a sacred date. On this day devotees donate gold, clothes etc as it is said to be very auspicious on this day. It is also said that on this day the priests can also save the observer from the major sins such as cow killing, murder etc.
The main rituals during Amla Navami are Vishnu Sahasranama parayana and chanting the Kartik Purana. Also, in addition to that, in other places of India Amla Navami is observed as Akshaya Navami or Kushmanda Navami.
