Supreme Court Orders Forensic Auditor in Ayodhya Ram Temple Donation Probe

The Supreme Court on Monday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to include a forensic auditor in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The court took note of the state's decision to constitute a four-member SIT headed by Inspector General of Police Kiran S.

Supreme Court Seeks Transparency in Investigation

A Bench comprising CJI Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana said "remedial measures will have to be taken" and assured that the court would ensure transparency in the probe. The Bench also directed the SIT to submit a status report within two weeks.

Uttar Pradesh Government Forms Four Member SIT

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the SIT, constituted on July 25, comprises an Inspector General of Police, a Deputy Inspector General, a Senior Superintendent of Police and an Additional Superintendent of Police. He also informed the court that a forensic auditor would now be added to the investigation team.

Petitioners Raise Concern Over Temple Donations

Senior advocate Devdatt Kamat, appearing for one of the petitioners, submitted that devotees had donated cash in denominations of ₹500 and ₹2,000, but the money allegedly did not reach the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
